Lady James CRICHTON-STUART
(Nee Hannah Tighe) (c.1800-1872)
Fifteen views made on the her 1850 trip to Normandy.
Hannah Tighe was an Irish Heiress, whose family owned Woodstock, Co Kilkenny. In 1818 she married Lord Patrick Crichton-Stuart (1794-1859), second son of the 1st Marques of Bute. A talented amateur, and diligent pupil, she painted watercolours of the Woodstock estate, Mount Stuart House, and South Wales, where Lord Crichton-Stuart was MP for Cardiff. She made a number of trips on the continent. She made a tours of Italy in 1834, where she took lessons from the young William Leighton Leitch (1804-1883), and Spain in 1852/53.
