Dachinger, Hugo (1908 - 1995)
'Devotion'. Ink and watercolour. Signed and dated, 1941. Dachinger was interned as an 'enemy alien' from June to October 1940 at Huyton near Liverpool and from October 1940 to January 1941 at the Mooragh Camp at Ramsey on the Isle of Man. In November 1940 he held an exhibition of his internment drawings 'Art Behind Barbed Wire' in the camp. He was released in January 1941 and held a second exhibition of his internment drawings entitled 'Art Behind Wire' at the Redfern Gallery in April 1941.
