Palazzo Pesaro, Venice. Pencil, pen, ink, watercolour and gouache on two sheets of paper. 1960. Provenance: George Butler, head designer at David Whitehead and Sons for whom Piper produced designs for fabrics throughout the 50s and 60s. Accompanied by a letter to ‘Mr Couttie’ from Piper discussing the possible adaptation of this work for a fabric.
